Beto Cerezo might have been able to make a better finish in the 2nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over José Vítor Vieira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. After a rather tough play, C.R. Flamengo's Ricardinho Azevedo got a free kick in the 7th minute. In the 13th minute, Beto Cerezo fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of José Vítor Vieira, passed just outside the right post. C.R. Flamengo's Reinaldo Carneiro got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. José Vítor Vieira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wágner Simão's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. In the 21st minute, Wágner Simão reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of José Vítor Vieira. The goal made the score 1-0. José Vítor Vieira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wágner Simão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A hard shot 27 in the game by Beto Cerezo from a close distance when the talented José Vítor Vieira managed to make a qualified save. C.R. Flamengo's players were relieved. Beto Cerezo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 30thth minute tested the skills of José Vítor Vieira when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 33rd match minute, C.R. Flamengo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Mangueira to maneuver through the defense. Francisco Mangueira stood ready after the free kick and tried to head the ball into the goal, but got pushed from behind by one of Orlando's defenders and the ball went out. C.R. Flamengo appealed in vain for a penalty, the referee looked over at the linesman, but the flag stayed down. No Penalty. If Wágner Simão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Vítor Vieira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wágner Simão in the 39th minute of the match. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wágner Simão made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Wágner Simão managed to get in a good position for a shot. Flamengo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Orlando the free kick. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
