Leopoldo Britto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reinaldo Carneiro in the 5th minute of the match. José Vítor Vieira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elias Lima, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 13th minute Ciro Félix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Vítor Vieira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, C.R. Flamengo's Reinaldo Carneiro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Leopoldo Britto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Raúl de Souza hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Reinaldo Carneiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. C.R. Flamengo's supporters rose to their feet, but Reinaldo Carneiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leopoldo Britto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Francisco Mangueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Francisco Mangueira might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Leopoldo Britto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Francisco Mangueira ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 31st minute, Bernardinho Vianna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. José Vítor Vieira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ciro Félix in the 33rd minute of play. The Arruda Futebol Clube fans' excitement grew in the 35th match minute when Arruda Futebol Clube's Elias Lima looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Reinaldo Carneiro in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Leopoldo Britto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Reinaldo Carneiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Britto having to interfere.

The wind increased when Reinaldo Carneiro made the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Reinaldo Carneiro in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Leopoldo Britto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 58 minutes, Reinaldo Carneiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.R. Flamengo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reinaldo Carneiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Arruda Futebol Clube's Raúl de Souza got a free kick in the 60th minute. In the 63rd minute, Francisco Mangueira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The C.R. Flamengo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. If Reinaldo Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leopoldo Britto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Mangueira in the 80th minute of play. Francisco Mangueira struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Leopoldo Britto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C.R. Flamengo. In the 85th minute, Reinaldo Carneiro made a precise shot to the right of Leopoldo Britto. Arruda Futebol Clube's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Elias Lima could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but José Vítor Vieira made a huge save. Elias Lima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Vítor Vieira having to interfere. Ciro Félix recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Arruda Futebol Clube players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for C.R. Flamengo.
