The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Orlando's goal looked a bit too open when Gabriel Cabral came free, but Vágner Paiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Sílvio Pernambucano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oswaldo Pontes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Magno Cardoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Flecheira's Oswaldo Pontes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Flecheira from getting a goal against them. Vágner Paiva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sílvio Pernambucano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st minute, Ronaldinho Barral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience held their breath when Raimundo Vasconcelos in the 23rd minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Oswaldo Pontes's left hand side. Osmar Guerra hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Wágner Simão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Flecheira's Fellipe Alves got a free kick in the 27th minute. Oswaldo Pontes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Beto Cerezo in the 31st minute. Beto Cerezo came free with the goalkeeper in the 33rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Oswaldo Pontes could save by the left post. After 41 played minutes Orlando got a freekick which was hit by Murilo Gonçalves. After a defensive mix-up in Flecheira's zone, Wágner Simão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oswaldo Pontes came out of the goal and Wágner Simão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wágner Simão stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Vágner Paiva came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Flecheira's Sílvio Pernambucano. But to his dismay, Sílvio Pernambucano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Oswaldo Pontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wágner Simão in the 61st minute of play. Sílvio Pernambucano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Flecheira getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Osmar Guerra hit a great ball. Oswaldo Pontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Beto Cerezo in the 70th minute of play. Sílvio Pernambucano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a little luck, Orlando's Vágner Paiva got control of the ball when Gabriel Cabral tried to sneak it across the goal line. Oswaldo Pontes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Beto Cerezo in the 82nd minute of the match. Oswaldo Pontes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wágner Simão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Osmar Guerra during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Orlando booed when Flecheira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osmar Guerra didn't get a good kick on the ball. 93 minutes into the game, Augusto Fonseca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Flecheira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Orlando the free kick. After 96 played minutes Orlando got a freekick which was hit by Murilo Gonçalves. The Flecheira supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Flecheira would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
