David Massa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juvenal Fontes having to interfere. Nuno Pombal hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, David Massa managed to get in a good position for a shot. S.E.Palmeiras's supporters rose to their feet, but David Massa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juvenal Fontes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Juvenal Fontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fellipe Vidal in the 14th minute of play. 15 minutes into the game, one of S.E.Palmeiras:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 17th minute there was a penalty for Real Flamengo. Adalberto Motta stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Lauro Abreu. 1-0. David Massa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juvenal Fontes having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fellipe Vidal in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juvenal Fontes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Fellipe Vidal scored 1-1 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Juvenal Fontes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Juvenal Fontes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fellipe Vidal's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. Pedrinho Simões kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Zé Pedro Saldanha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lauro Abreu having to interfere. When Fellipe Vidal came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the S.E.Palmeiras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fellipe Vidal couldn't finish the play. Juvenal Fontes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fellipe Vidal in the 45th minute of the match. Real Flamengo's Juvenal Fontes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Massa in the 47th minute of play. Juvenal Fontes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fellipe Vidal, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when David Massa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Real Flamengo getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Nuno Pombal hit a great ball. David Massa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zé Pedro Saldanha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Lauro Abreu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nuno Pombal got his second yellow card in the match during the 59th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 60th minute, Nuno Pombal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. S.E.Palmeiras's Edmundo Cerezo shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 60th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Juvenal Fontes but with some difficulty. Fellipe Vidal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lauro Abreu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcel Neto in the 69th minute of the match. David Massa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Juvenal Fontes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Marcel Neto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Real Flamengo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Adalberto Motta in the 88th minute. A nice corner shot did that Adalberto Motta got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Lauro Abreu quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fellipe Vidal got free with Juvenal Fontes in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Real Flamengo's Juvenal Fontes got control of the ball when Fellipe Vidal tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcel Neto in the 97th minute of play forced S.E.Palmeiras's goalkeeper Lauro Abreu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
