Imortal Tricolor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Yuri Goiano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tomás Batista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 11th minute, Ramiro Braga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When C.R. Flamengo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Imortal Tricolor the free kick. A collision led to C.R. Flamengo getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Ramiro Braga hit a great ball. Felipe Moura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fernando Viana charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fernando Viana the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 42 played minutes Imortal Tricolor got a freekick which was hit by Fernando Viana. Tomás Batista's late challenge caught a C.R. Flamengo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tomás Batista helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Imortal Tricolor's Tomás Batista got a free kick in the 44th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Reinaldo Carneiro made a kick off. José Vítor Vieira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yuri Goiano, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Imortal Tricolor's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Reinaldo Carneiro 58 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-2. Reinaldo Carneiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 61st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adrianinho Neto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Reinaldo Carneiro ran back to his position shaking his head. Adrianinho Neto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reinaldo Carneiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Felipe Moura hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Maurício de Medeiros was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 65th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Francisco Mangueira got free with Adrianinho Neto in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Yuri Goiano in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck José Vítor Vieira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 76 minutes, Felipe Moura made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. C.R. Flamengo's José Vítor Vieira tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Yuri Goiano took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Vítor Vieira. José Vítor Vieira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. When the match had gone on for 83 minutes, Yuri Goiano put it in 3-2 from a short distance just to the right of José Vítor Vieira. If Yuri Goiano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Felipe Moura came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Imortal Tricolor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felipe Moura couldn't finish the play.
