The referee ignored PALESTRA ITÁLIA's protests and gave Oséias Paulista a yellow card for diving instead. After 3 played minutes PALESTRA ITÁLIA got a freekick which was hit by Oséias Paulista. Cléberson Macedo struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Gandalf Fehér didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itaperu. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Adolfo Edmondson in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jerônimo Valadares saved Itaperu from getting behind. Gandalf Fehér showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gabriel Guedes, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 15th minute Egídio Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jerônimo Valadares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 20 minutes, Wágner de Brito managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itaperu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wágner de Brito was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Itaperu's Jerônimo Valadares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adolfo Edmondson in the 22nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedro Luiz Dionísio got free with Gandalf Fehér in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 27th minute, Pedro Luiz Dionísio left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Itaperu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Jerônimo Valadares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adolfo Edmondson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wágner de Brito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Gandalf Fehér tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adolfo Edmondson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jerônimo Valadares having to interfere. After 42 played minutes PALESTRA ITÁLIA got a freekick which was hit by Oséias Paulista.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Egídio Amaral to make the kick off. After having played for 57 minutes, Lauro Ortiz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. PALESTRA ITÁLIA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wágner de Brito was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. A collision led to PALESTRA ITÁLIA getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Lauro Ortiz hit a great ball. Jerônimo Valadares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Egídio Amaral in the 80th minute. When Egídio Amaral came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the PALESTRA ITÁLIA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Egídio Amaral couldn't finish the play. Egídio Amaral's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jerônimo Valadares firmly grabbed it by the left post. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Itaperu were victorious despite being under pressure from PALESTRA ITÁLIA for much of the match.
