Romário Bastos ran back to his position shaking his head. If Joaquim Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Anselmo Rezende made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Joaquim Costa sent off a good shot on target. Serafim da Cunha kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Romário Bastos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The wind increased when Romário Bastos made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Cariuacanga's zone, Joaquim Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anselmo Rezende came out of the goal and Joaquim Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 56th minute Romário Bastos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anselmo Rezende saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 58th minute, Dudu Ramos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Romário Bastos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Romário Bastos managed to get in a good position for a shot. BEIRA MAR EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Romário Bastos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anselmo Rezende breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 92 minutes, Romário Bastos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. BEIRA MAR EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Romário Bastos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Cariuacanga players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
