A collision led to Calango Pardo FC getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Breno Britto hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Reynaldo Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot. EC Zamboni's supporters rose to their feet, but Reynaldo Gomes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedrão Quintal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pedrão Quintal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reynaldo Gomes in the 23rd minute of play. After 23 minutes, Nelsinho de Barros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Calango Pardo FC and the EC Zamboni players grew even worse after the yellow card. Calango Pardo FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Benê Romero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Danilo Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 47 minutes into the game, Laerte Valle was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. EC Zamboni's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Calango Pardo FC the free kick. After 46 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for EC Zamboni! When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Danilo Salles made the kick off in the second half. When José das Neves came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the EC Zamboni fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José das Neves couldn't finish the play. Reynaldo Gomes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedrão Quintal having to interfere. Cláudio Zanette showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benê Romero, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Cláudio Zanette took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Danilo Salles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pedrão Quintal made an important save on a dangerous shot by José das Neves in the 75th minute. After having played for 76 minutes, Reynaldo Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
