An unexpectedly hard shot by Antônio Sá in the 3rd minute of play forced Corte FC's goalkeeper Guga Donatello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 9 minutes into the game, Bruninho Travassos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Corte FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Criciúma EC the free kick. In the 10thth minute of the game Edu Bueno who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Corte FC's Guga Donatello was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Criciúma EC booed when Corte FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juninho Brodel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edu Bueno scored 0-1 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Guga Donatello, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Telmo Sousa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Laércio Ramos in the 32nd minute. Guga Donatello showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marco da Fonseca in the 35th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Edu Bueno managed to get in a good position for a shot. Criciúma EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Edu Bueno was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guga Donatello breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 41 minutes, Edu Bueno managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Criciúma EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edu Bueno was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edu Bueno struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Guga Donatello didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Criciúma EC. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edu Bueno was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Criciúma EC's Raí Antunes got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Bruninho Travassos struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Telmo Sousa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Corte FC. Edu Bueno in the 56thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Marco da Fonseca recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Marco da Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Criciúma EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marco da Fonseca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guga Donatello breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Telmo Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rogério Pimenta in the 77th minute of play. Marco da Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Guga Donatello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edu Bueno's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 82ndth minute, Guga Donatello skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 84th minute Pedro Luiz Braga suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. In the 85th match minute, Criciúma EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raí Antunes to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Edu Bueno managed to get in a good position for a shot. Criciúma EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Edu Bueno was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guga Donatello breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Corte FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Criciúma EC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
