Guga Macedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruninho Travassos in the 5th minute of play. 10 minutes into the game, Adilson Munhoz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Guga Donatello was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 13 played minutes Vargem got a freekick which was hit by Sérgio Velasco. In the 15th match minute, Corte FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juninho Brodel to maneuver through the defense. If Adilson Munhoz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 20th minute, Gualter Aguiar left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vargem fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. After 24 played minutes Vargem got a freekick which was hit by Glauco Lago. In the 27th minute, Gualter Aguiar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Laércio Ramos's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Guga Macedo firmly grabbed it by the left post. Celso Pires kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Gualter Aguiar struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Guga Donatello didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vargem. Gualter Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guga Donatello having to interfere. Guga Donatello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sérgio Velasco in the 46th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Corte FC's zone, Adilson Munhoz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guga Donatello came out of the goal and Adilson Munhoz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Adilson Munhoz was the one to do the kick off. Adilson Munhoz might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Guga Donatello. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Adilson Munhoz ran back to his position shaking his head. Sérgio Velasco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Guga Donatello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 56th minute Gualter Aguiar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guga Donatello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Arnaldo Braga during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 57th minute, Arnaldo Braga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind Corte FC's goalkeeper Guga Donatello, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Guga Macedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rogério Pimenta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adilson Munhoz was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 73rd minute. Vargem's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Adilson Munhoz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guga Donatello having to interfere. Gualter Aguiar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Guga Donatello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Guga Donatello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adilson Munhoz, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Sérgio Velasco kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Adilson Munhoz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Adilson Munhoz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 96th minute Pedro Luiz Braga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guga Macedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vargem's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
