Thanks to some nice moves Fernando Matos could shoot a difficult shot in the 30th minute, which Hugo Pontes however easily saved by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Percy Dracena in the 34th minute of play forced United's goalkeeper Lauro Penha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. United's Lauro Penha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Percy Dracena in the 39th minute of play. If Percy Dracena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 44 minutes into the match, José Augusto Siqueira notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of United's Lauro Penha. Lauro Penha was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half Faisqueiro were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Percy Dracena made a kick off. José Augusto Siqueira's late challenge caught a United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
