Edson Almeida sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marcinho Moraes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ramón Travassos went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 28th minute Fernando Matos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcinho Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aírton Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Lauro Penha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mathias Reis hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. If Aírton Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Aírton Silveira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Astroworld's supporters rose to their feet, but Aírton Silveira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lauro Penha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 42nd minute of the match, Edson Almeida tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Lauro Penha saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Edson Almeida's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lauro Penha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. After the first half United were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ramón Travassos to make the kick off. If Aírton Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Astroworld's zone, Fernando Matos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcinho Moraes came out of the goal and Fernando Matos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Astroworld booed when United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mathias Reis didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Astroworld's Aírton Silveira in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye United's goalie prevented a goal. When Aírton Silveira came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Astroworld fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aírton Silveira couldn't finish the play. In the 69th minute Edson Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lauro Penha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Edson Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 74 played minutes United got a freekick which was hit by Gabriel Sena. A collision led to United getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Ramón Travassos hit a great ball. 80 minutes into the match, United's goal looked a bit too open when Aírton Silveira came free, but Lauro Penha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Astroworld getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Tiago de Queiroz hit a great ball. If Fernando Matos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edson Almeida in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lauro Penha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to United getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Edmílson Baptista hit a great ball. 98 minutes into the match, United's goal looked a bit too open when Aírton Silveira came free, but Lauro Penha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched United eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
