But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fiori Fantini couldn't finish the play. A collision led to champion getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Fiori Fantini hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fiori Fantini in the 13th minute of play forced S. E. Manda Brasa's goalkeeper Francisco Torres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eusébio Souto was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 16 minutes into the match. In the 17th minute there was a penalty for S. E. Manda Brasa. Lino Gomes stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Didi Velloso. 0-1. The supporters of champion booed when S. E. Manda Brasa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nestor Paranaense didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Paulão Secco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th minute, champion's Nelsinho Pontes dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Francisco Torres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelsinho Pontes in the 30th minute of play. Francisco Torres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedrinho Meira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paulão Secco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. S. E. Manda Brasa's Francisco Torres proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save S. E. Manda Brasa from getting a goal against them. Didi Velloso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lino Gomes in the 42nd minute of play. Fabiano Arantes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Didi Velloso having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in S. E. Manda Brasa's zone, Pedrinho Meira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Francisco Torres came out of the goal and Pedrinho Meira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 47 minutes into the match, Paulão Secco notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of S. E. Manda Brasa's Francisco Torres. Francisco Torres was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Paulão Secco made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulão Secco in the 54th minute of play forced S. E. Manda Brasa's goalkeeper Francisco Torres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benedito Campidelis kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Lino Gomes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lino Gomes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Didi Velloso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nelsinho Pontes might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Francisco Torres. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nelsinho Pontes ran back to his position shaking his head. Francisco Torres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulão Secco, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. After having played for 90 minutes, Paulão Secco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. champion's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulão Secco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 91st match minute, champion was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fiori Fantini to maneuver through the defense. Lino Gomes received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Didi Velloso came out and tried to block the shot, but Lino Gomes slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 96th minute. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
