The supporters of Itapevi booed when Mauriti FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulisses Oliveira didn't get a good kick on the ball. 9 minutes into the game, one of Mauriti FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Itapevi's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Leonel Hoffmann 24 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. In the 75th match minute, Mauriti FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Egídio Lira to maneuver through the defense. If Vivaldo Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Itapevi's zone, Nelsinho Cearense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Fábio de Toledo came out of the goal and Nelsinho Cearense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 95 minutes into the game, Dé Veloso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Itapevi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mauriti FC the free kick. Itapevi's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
