But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lúcio Abreu couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Samuca Paranaense during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Olímpico Manaus F.C.'s Samuca Paranaense got a free kick in the 7th minute. Chicão Munhoz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Pedrinho Lima managed to get in a good position for a shot. Olímpico Manaus F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Pedrinho Lima was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nelson Tavares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nelson Tavares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedrinho Lima, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 19 minutes, Eriberto Netto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mugiwaras AL FC and the Olímpico Manaus F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. Eriberto Netto kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Albertinho Furtado received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nelson Tavares came out and tried to block the shot, but Albertinho Furtado slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 20th minute. Olímpico Manaus F.C.'s Albertinho Furtado got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Mugiwaras AL FC's Nelson Tavares got control of the ball when Albertinho Furtado tried to sneak it across the goal line. Pedrinho Lima recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 37th minute of the match, Albertinho Furtado got a very nice opportunity to score, but Nelson Tavares was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. If Pedrinho Lima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Albertinho Furtado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Kiko Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Penha having to interfere. 57 minutes into the game, Evandro de Almeida was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Olímpico Manaus F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mugiwaras AL FC the free kick. A collision led to Olímpico Manaus F.C. getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Evandro de Almeida hit a great ball. Chicão Munhoz was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 58th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 60th match minute, Mugiwaras AL FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eriberto Netto to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Olímpico Manaus F.C.'s Eduardo Penha got control of the ball when Kiko Costa tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mugiwaras AL FC's Nelson Tavares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albertinho Furtado in the 67th minute of play. Eduardo Penha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lúcio Abreu in the 68th minute of the match. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Olímpico Manaus F.C.'s goalkeeper Eduardo Penha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Lúcio Abreu came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Mugiwaras AL FC fans jumped to their feet. Eriberto Netto got his second yellow card in the match during the 75th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Eriberto Netto hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. If Lúcio Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 83rd minute, Benê Pinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nelson Tavares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedrinho Lima in the 90th minute of play. The Olímpico Manaus F.C. players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
