Cabeçudo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Afonsinho Paiva was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 0-1 became the score in the 26th minute when Marcel Batista elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Chicão Bittencourt was extremely unlucky when he, in the 34th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Cabeçudo's Chicão Bittencourt in the 47th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Celsinho Pontes was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Balaco through an amazing save.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Chicão Bittencourt to make the kick off. Pedro Luiz Leme hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Afonsinho Paiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celsinho Pontes having to interfere. During the 62nd minute of the match Fiori Mota completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Fiori Mota a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Cabeçudo's Pedrão Pontes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcel Batista in the 70th minute of play. Chicão Bittencourt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
