Armando Faria received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Joaquim da Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Armando Pinheiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Joaquim da Fonseca made a huge save. S&V FC's Sílvio Perez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Luiz Mattos in the 45th minute of play. Sílvio Perez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Luiz Mattos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pedro Luiz Mattos to make the kick off. An unexpected shot in the 66th minute by Jaime de Andrade got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After 67 played minutes Itajiba got a freekick which was hit by Róbson Meireles. In the 70th match minute, Itajiba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Luiz Mattos to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pedro Luiz Mattos during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Itajiba's zone, Armando Pinheiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joaquim da Fonseca came out of the goal and Armando Pinheiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sílvio Perez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jaime de Andrade in the 79th minute. After having played for 80 minutes, Ivo Viana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itajiba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ivo Viana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. César Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dadá Rosado hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. 93 minutes into the match, Itajiba's goal looked a bit too open when Armando Pinheiro came free, but Joaquim da Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Itajiba supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Itajiba would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
