Osvaldinho Esteves struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. Valdemar Arantes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for E. C. Vila Mariana. 1-0 became the score in the 5th minute when Luiz Fábio da Mata elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Zé Carlos de Mendonça took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joélson Quadros. Joélson Quadros dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. 19 minutes into the match, E. C. Vila Mariana's goal looked a bit too open when Kauan Gaspar came free, but Joélson Quadros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leonel Bertassi kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Joélson Quadros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kauan Gaspar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joélson Quadros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Carlos de Mendonça in the 28th minute of play. Zé Carlos de Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joélson Quadros having to interfere. After 32 played minutes E. C. Vila Mariana got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldinho Alves. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Kauan Gaspar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Funilandia's supporters rose to their feet, but Kauan Gaspar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joélson Quadros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 41 played minutes E. C. Vila Mariana got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldinho Alves. Zé Carlos de Mendonça received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 49th minute. Joélson Quadros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luiz Fábio da Mata to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Funilandia getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Egídio Ferraz hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Kauan Gaspar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Funilandia's supporters rose to their feet, but Kauan Gaspar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joélson Quadros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kauan Gaspar's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Joélson Quadros firmly grabbed it by the left post. Zé Carlos de Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joélson Quadros having to interfere. Moisés Rosado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match had gone on for 67 minutes, Zé Carlos de Mendonça took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Joélson Quadros to make any attempt to save it. Ronaldinho Alves charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ronaldinho Alves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 75th match minute, E. C. Vila Mariana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronaldinho Alves to maneuver through the defense. Zé Carlos de Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Funilandia's Egídio Ferraz pulled a muscle in his back after 79 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Célio Varela's late challenge caught a Funilandia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Célio Varela helped the player get up and apologised. Luiz Fábio da Mata recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Joélson Quadros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Moisés Rosado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Funilandia's Kléber Rocha got a free kick in the 96th minute.
