Bernardo's Celso Sampaio got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Celso Sampaio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 19 minutes into the game, Lenílson Silva was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bernardo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave São Caetano do Sul the free kick. After a rather tough play, Bernardo's Lenílson Silva got a free kick in the 19th minute. Vito Sousa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but David Magalhães read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. Lúcio Fantini made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdomiro Lucas in the 36th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Bernardo Soares managed to get in a good position for a shot. São Caetano do Sul's supporters rose to their feet, but Bernardo Soares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lúcio Fantini breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. David Magalhães made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Vito Sousa sent off a good shot on target. In the 46th minute, Celso Sampaio fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of David Magalhães, passed just outside the right post. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After 51 played minutes São Caetano do Sul got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Fernando de Godoi. David Magalhães stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vito Sousa's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Cássio Abreu hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. 61 minutes into the match, Bernardo's Otávio Paranaense broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Celso Sampaio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Magalhães having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vito Sousa in the 68th minute of play forced São Caetano do Sul's goalkeeper David Magalhães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, São Caetano do Sul's Ian Marques got a free kick in the 68th minute. After 71 minutes, Vito Sousa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bernardo and the São Caetano do Sul players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind São Caetano do Sul's goalkeeper David Magalhães, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Vito Sousa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 88 minutes, Celso Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bernardo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Celso Sampaio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ian Marques kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Celso Sampaio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. David Magalhães tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vito Sousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Magalhães having to interfere. David Magalhães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celso Sampaio in the 96th minute of play.
