Nico Cardozo went to the wrong direction when Sidney Tinoco was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. When Abel Melo came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Thomar fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abel Melo couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Thomar booed when TUBARÃO FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artur de Lima didn't get a good kick on the ball. 39 minutes into the game, Abel Melo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Nico Cardozo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Thomar's José Augusto Velasco got a free kick in the 43rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Alfredinho Munhoz managed to get in a good position for a shot. TUBARÃO FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfredinho Munhoz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell João Augusto Quadros to make the kick off. Nico Cardozo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Augusto Quadros in the 52nd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Juvenal Pontes during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 54th minute, Juvenal Pontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 79th minute, Abel Melo got a good opportunity for a shot when Thomar was rewarded a free kick. Abel Melo was unable to take advantage of the situation as his shot went just outside the left post. After 80 played minutes TUBARÃO FC got a freekick which was hit by Luciano Maciel. Nico Cardozo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Augusto Quadros in the 82nd minute of play. In the 83rd minute, Abel Melo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Abel Melo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 88thth minute tested the skills of Nico Cardozo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 89th minute, Thomar's João Augusto Quadros ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nico Cardozo. Nico Cardozo yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3.
