Luisão Porto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A hard shot 6 in the game by Benê Schmidt from a close distance when the talented Osvaldo Ramalho managed to make a qualified save. Pindai's players were relieved. Osvaldo Ramalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luisão Porto, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Benê Schmidt might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Osvaldo Ramalho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Benê Schmidt ran back to his position shaking his head. Luisão Porto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osvaldo Ramalho having to interfere. 16 minutes into the match, Pindai's goalkeeper Osvaldo Ramalho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Benê Schmidt. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Carlos Santana in the 20th minute of play forced Queimasangue's goalkeeper Maurício da Silveira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luisão Porto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osvaldo Ramalho having to interfere. After 29 minutes of play, Pindai's José Carlos Santana made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Maurício da Silveira was left in no man's land by his defense there! José Carlos Santana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maurício da Silveira having to interfere. When José Carlos Santana came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Pindai fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Carlos Santana couldn't finish the play. Queimasangue's Luisão Porto got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Benê Schmidt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Osvaldo Ramalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Osvaldo Ramalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luisão Porto in the 56th minute of play. The supporters of Queimasangue booed when Pindai was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Matorin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 58th minute, Amílton Martins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 61st match minute, Pindai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jailson Travassos to maneuver through the defense. Osvaldo Ramalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benê Schmidt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Queimasangue's Maurício da Silveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sílvio Luiz Saldanha in the 80th minute of play. In the 86th minute, Hélder Furtado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If José Carlos Santana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edu Santos hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Pindai eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
