Bebeto Mota didn't get a good kick on the ball. Belmiro Netto shot from long distance in the 5th minute, but Clóvis Ferreira was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. When João Vítor Miranda came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the CFZ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Vítor Miranda couldn't finish the play. Flávio Tinoco struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Clóvis Ferreira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CFZ. 11 minutes into the match, Hélder Ferraz notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of CFZ's Denílson Gaúcho. Denílson Gaúcho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Denílson Gaúcho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mathias Leão in the 17th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as João Vítor Miranda kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Clóvis Ferreira. That made the score 1-1 in the 19 minute of play. In the 29th minute, MoNsTaRs's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Flávio Tinoco fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 32nd minute, but Clóvis Ferreira got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving MoNsTaRs hanging dry this time. A collision led to CFZ getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Cléberson Ferraz hit a great ball. In the 44thth minute of the game Hélder Ferraz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CFZ's Denílson Gaúcho was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 50 minutes MoNsTaRs's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Belmiro Netto who took care of the corner kick. Clóvis Ferreira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Vítor Miranda in the 51st minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

In the 56th minute, João Vítor Miranda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 61 played minutes CFZ got a freekick which was hit by Belmiro Netto. In the 62nd minute of the match Tiaguinho Alvarenga sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Denílson Gaúcho skillfully saved the ball. After 66 minutes, Mathias Leão made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. CFZ's Denílson Gaúcho tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 77th minute, Mathias Leão fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Jarbas Saldanha charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jarbas Saldanha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 81st minute of the match Belmiro Netto shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Clóvis Ferreira showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Clóvis Ferreira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flávio Tinoco, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mathias Leão in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Denílson Gaúcho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rogério Aguiar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Denílson Gaúcho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The MoNsTaRs supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing MoNsTaRs would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
