Betinho Paulista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Paulo Medeiros having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wesley Quadros in the 13th minute of play forced Marabá PA's goalkeeper Zé Paulo Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Paulo Medeiros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Betinho Paulista, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Itanhem SS's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Oséias Cavalcante 19 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. In the 40th minute Wesley Quadros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Paulo Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 41st minute of the game. One of Itanhem SS:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Marabá PA:s goal. Nilson Tasso placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wesley Quadros stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Caetano Silveira during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 52 played minutes Marabá PA got a freekick which was hit by Caetano Silveira. In the 56th match minute, Itanhem SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kléber Dionísio to maneuver through the defense. Zé Paulo Medeiros made an important save on a dangerous shot by Betinho Paulista in the 64th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Marabá PA's zone, Betinho Paulista stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Paulo Medeiros came out of the goal and Betinho Paulista tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wesley Quadros's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zé Paulo Medeiros read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. José Paulo Camargo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oséias Cavalcante in the 71st minute of play. Wesley Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Paulo Medeiros having to interfere. 77 minutes into the match, Itanhem SS's goal looked a bit too open when José Paulo Vianna came free, but José Paulo Camargo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Betinho Paulista could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Zé Paulo Medeiros made a huge save. Wesley Quadros was extremely unlucky when he, in the 89th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. José Paulo Camargo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oséias Cavalcante, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. 93 minutes into the match, Betinho Paulista notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Marabá PA's Zé Paulo Medeiros. Zé Paulo Medeiros was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
