A collision led to Itanhem SS getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Gabriel Valladares hit a great ball. With a little luck, Itanhem SS's José Paulo Camargo got control of the ball when Allan Vergílio tried to sneak it across the goal line. José Paulo Camargo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Allan Vergílio in the 10th minute. The audience was convinced that Luizinho Saldanha's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Paulo Camargo was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. Itanhem SS's José Paulo Camargo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizinho Saldanha in the 13th minute of play. Luizinho Saldanha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. José Paulo Camargo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wesley Quadros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wesley Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dieguinho Faria having to interfere. Dieguinho Faria took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Betinho Paulista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luiz Gustavo Bezerra kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Wesley Quadros's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dieguinho Faria read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. Kléber Dionísio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dieguinho Faria having to interfere. José Paulo Camargo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luizinho Saldanha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luizinho Saldanha to make the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Tejuco's goalkeeper Dieguinho Faria had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Betinho Paulista. Dieguinho Faria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wesley Quadros, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Dieguinho Faria stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wesley Quadros's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. Betinho Paulista's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dieguinho Faria read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. Allan Vergílio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Luizinho Saldanha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Paulo Camargo having to interfere. 79 minutes into the match, Tião Fonseca had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of José Paulo Camargo. Itanhem SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tião Fonseca was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Luizinho Saldanha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. José Paulo Camargo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Tejuco fans cheered their team off the field, for while Itanhem SS had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
