Arthur Bastos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilson Galvão in the 18th minute of the match. In the 20th play minute Hílton Hoffmann came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Nilton de Mendonça. 1-0. If Luiz Fernando Oliveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 26 minutes, Murillo Falcão mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Várzea do Tamanduateí and the Atlético da Colina players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Várzea do Tamanduateí getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Murillo Falcão hit a great ball. Umberto Costa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 27th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nilton de Mendonça. Várzea do Tamanduateí's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Hílton Hoffmann managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atlético da Colina's supporters rose to their feet, but Hílton Hoffmann was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nilton de Mendonça breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. André Gonçalves kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Luiz Fernando Oliveira made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Várzea do Tamanduateí's zone, Luiz Fernando Oliveira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nilton de Mendonça came out of the goal and Luiz Fernando Oliveira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hílton Hoffmann blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nilton de Mendonça having to make a save. Edgar de Queiroz kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Várzea do Tamanduateí's Murillo Falcão got a free kick in the 58th minute. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Várzea do Tamanduateí's goalkeeper Nilton de Mendonça, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Atlético da Colina's defense didn't have a chance, in the 61st minute, when Gilson Galvão scored to the left of an out of position Arthur Bastos, making the score, 1-1. 65 minutes into the game, Francisco Prata recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Arthur Bastos. Francisco Prata showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. 69 minutes into the match, Luiz Fernando Oliveira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nilton de Mendonça. Várzea do Tamanduateí's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luiz Fernando Oliveira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Umberto Costa charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Umberto Costa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Várzea do Tamanduateí booed when Atlético da Colina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Umberto Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. André Gonçalves kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. A collision led to Várzea do Tamanduateí getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Edgar de Queiroz hit a great ball. Hílton Hoffmann recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nilton de Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 98th play minute Francisco Prata came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Arthur Bastos. 2-3. Várzea do Tamanduateí were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Atlético da Colina's much stronger midfield.
