In the 15th minute, Benê Meira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Laércio de Amaral in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Telmo Seco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Telmo Seco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ricardo Toscano in the 19th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, SS Excellsior FC's Falcão Cardoso got a free kick in the 20th minute. The supporters of SS Excellsior FC booed when Edson gol was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademar Fantini didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 23rd match minute, SS Excellsior FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Fabiano Teles to maneuver through the defense. Edson gol's Ricardo Toscano got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cido Egers short, quick shot in the 32ndth minute got Victor Salgado to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 34 minutes into the match, SS Excellsior FC's Cido Eger sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Victor Salgado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luiz Fabiano Teles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 38th minute of the match Edson Almeida sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Telmo Seco skillfully saved the ball. When the match had gone on for 45 minutes, Luiz Fabiano Teles took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Victor Salgado to make any attempt to save it.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Laércio de Amaral to strike the kick off in the second half. Edson gol's Victor Salgado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cido Eger in the 64th minute of play. Wilian das Neves charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Wilian das Neves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to SS Excellsior FC getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Wilian das Neves hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in SS Excellsior FC's zone, Laércio de Amaral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Telmo Seco came out of the goal and Laércio de Amaral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cido Eger in the 72nd minute of play forced Edson gol's goalkeeper Victor Salgado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cido Eger's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Victor Salgado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. SS Excellsior FC's Telmo Seco proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save SS Excellsior FC from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 80 minutes, Laércio de Amaral took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Telmo Seco to make any attempt to save it. In the 84th minute Cido Eger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Victor Salgado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luiz Fabiano Teles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Victor Salgado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 87 played minutes SS Excellsior FC got a freekick which was hit by Wilian das Neves. 93 minutes into the match, SS Excellsior FC's goal looked a bit too open when Laércio de Amaral came free, but Telmo Seco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
