Paulo Pinho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Telmo Seco made a huge save. Percival de Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Telmo Seco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Reinaldo Vieira kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. SS Excellsior FC's Telmo Seco proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save SS Excellsior FC from getting a goal against them. Wilian das Neves's late challenge caught a PARNAHYBA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wilian das Neves helped the player get up and apologised. After 22 played minutes SS Excellsior FC got a freekick which was hit by Wilian das Neves. In the 23rd minute, Mário Cruz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 24 minutes into the match, PARNAHYBA's goal looked a bit too open when Hélder Barreto came free, but Cléber Paraibano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed Telmo Seco as he didn't even see the shot coming. If Paulo Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. SS Excellsior FC's Telmo Seco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Pinho in the 58th minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, PARNAHYBA's Paulo Pinho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Telmo Seco narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fabiano Teles in the 65th minute of play forced PARNAHYBA's goalkeeper Cléber Paraibano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Telmo Seco showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Paulo Pinho in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Telmo Seco saved SS Excellsior FC from getting behind. Percival de Souza struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Telmo Seco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PARNAHYBA. In the 93rd minute Marcos Quirino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Telmo Seco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 96 minutes into the match, PARNAHYBA's goalkeeper Cléber Paraibano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cido Eger. PARNAHYBA's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
