In the 8thth minute of the game Paulo Pinho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Edson gol's Victor Salgado was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Victor Salgado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paulo Pinho went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Victor Salgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Pinho in the 15th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Paulo Pinho in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Victor Salgado saved Edson gol from getting behind. Victor Salgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcos Quirino in the 21st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paulo Pinho in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Victor Salgado prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cléber Paraibano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laércio de Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Edson gol's zone, Rômulo Torres stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Victor Salgado came out of the goal and Rômulo Torres tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Victor Salgado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo Pinho in the 44th minute of the match. Victor Salgado stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paulo Pinho's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. 48 minutes in the game, Paulo Pinho dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Laércio de Amaral to make the kick off. Percival de Souza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A long shot from Juninho Mangueira in the 78th minute of play was well struck, but Victor Salgado made a really good save at the right post. In the 83rd minute, Paulo Pinho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paulo Pinho was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 89th minute. PARNAHYBA's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. With a little luck, Edson gol's Victor Salgado got control of the ball when Walmyr da Silva tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Marcos Quirino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Percival de Souza took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 94th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Victor Salgado. Edson gol's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Paulo Pinho managed to get in a good position for a shot. PARNAHYBA's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo Pinho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Victor Salgado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Paulo Pinho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 97th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
