Leonardo Luz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. When Zézinho Ceresso came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Ja matei saudade fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zézinho Ceresso couldn't finish the play. Nelson de Moraes hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. 21 minutes into the match, Fabiano das Neves had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Álvaro Cosme. Estacado's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fabiano das Neves was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. If Armandinho Cavalcante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edu Palmeira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leonardo Luz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. In the 41st minute of the match Estacado got a corner. Ja matei saudade's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luís Eduardo Brito ran over to the corner to take the kick. Leonardo Luz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edu Palmeira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The wind increased when Zézinho Ceresso made the kick off in the second half. Zézinho Ceresso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Álvaro Cosme having to interfere. Estacado's Álvaro Cosme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zézinho Ceresso in the 56th minute of play. Armandinho Cavalcante sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Álvaro Cosme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zézinho Ceresso in the 68th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Zézinho Ceresso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Álvaro Cosme was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. Edu Palmeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ja matei saudade's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabiano das Neves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ja matei saudade's Fabiano das Neves got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nelson de Moraes's late challenge caught a Ja matei saudade's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nelson de Moraes helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Estacado's Nelson de Moraes got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Armandinho Cavalcante sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 96 minutes into the game, Hamílton de Queiroz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ja matei saudade's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Estacado the free kick. Hamílton de Queiroz hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Estacado lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
