After a rather tough play, Matutina's Natanael de Sousa got a free kick in the 17th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Matutina's zone, Vito Xavier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Luiz Lopez came out of the goal and Vito Xavier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Matutina's Luís Eduardo Seco slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Manfredo Mesquita. That made the score 2-0 after 23 minutes of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Eduardo Seco got free with Manfredo Mesquita in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 31st minute Natanael de Sousa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manfredo Mesquita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dinei das Neves struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Manfredo Mesquita didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Matutina. Natanael de Sousa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Manfredo Mesquita made a huge save. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Natanael de Sousa was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Luís Eduardo Seco notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Pequiri's Manfredo Mesquita. Manfredo Mesquita was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Manfredo Mesquita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Natanael de Sousa in the 64th minute of play. Jeferson Reis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
