A collision led to Botafogo getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Gonçalo da Rocha hit a great ball. Benedito Gomes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dorian Fantini in the 13th minute of the match. 15 minutes into the match, Botafogo's goal looked a bit too open when Dorian Fantini came free, but Benedito Gomes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 16th minute Patrick Vander shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benedito Gomes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 23 minutes of play, Aba Futebol Clube's Patrick Vander made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benedito Gomes was left in no man's land by his defense there! Benedito Gomes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zézinho Donatello, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Dorian Fantini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benedito Gomes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zézinho Donatello in the 34th minute of the match. Botafogo's Benedito Gomes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dorian Fantini in the 35th minute of play. After 36 played minutes Botafogo got a freekick which was hit by Mathias Dias. Zézinho Donatello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gonçalo da Rocha during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 38 played minutes Botafogo got a freekick which was hit by Gonçalo da Rocha. Zézinho Donatello recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Benedito Gomes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Patrick Vander went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luisinho Santos to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Botafogo's Luisinho Santos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Antônio Carlos Guedes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 64th match minute, Aba Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrick Vander to maneuver through the defense. 66 minutes into the match, Botafogo's goalkeeper Benedito Gomes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dorian Fantini. The Aba Futebol Clube players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
