After a defensive mix-up in Erveira FC's zone, Diguinho Mendes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abelardo Soeiro came out of the goal and Diguinho Mendes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luiz Eduardo Falcão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Abelardo Soeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mário Quirino made a kick off. If Wilson Alagoano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. Ponte Branca FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilson Alagoano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 62nd minute, Mário Quirino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Abelardo Soeiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luiz Eduardo Falcão's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. Abelardo Soeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilson Alagoano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. But to his dismay, Luiz Eduardo Falcão quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. When Wilson Alagoano came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Ponte Branca FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wilson Alagoano couldn't finish the play.
