The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sampaio Correa AFC's João Vítor Leme got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dedé Goiano in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tomás Marquez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dedé Goiano in the 15th minute of play forced Sampaio Correa AFC's goalkeeper Tomás Marquez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If João Vítor Leme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Sampaio Correa AFC getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. João Vítor Leme hit a great ball. In the 26th minute, Dedé Goiano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tomás Marquez was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Sampaio Correa AFC's Miguel Vargas got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Sampaio Correa AFC booed when Itaquahy FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edvaldo Vasconcelos didn't get a good kick on the ball. João Vítor Leme received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Sidnei de Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. João Vítor Leme recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tomás Marquez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Orlando Negri in the 41st minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by João Vítor Leme during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 44th minute, João Vítor Leme hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Sampaio Correa AFC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Itaquahy FC were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell João Vítor Leme to make the kick off. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Sampaio Correa AFC's goalkeeper Tomás Marquez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Itaquahy FC's Orlando Negri got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Orlando Negri kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tomás Marquez. That made the score 0-2 in the 68 minute of play. In the 72nd minute, Orlando Negri got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 80 minutes into the match, Itaquahy FC's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Vargas came free, but Sidnei de Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 81 played minutes Sampaio Correa AFC got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Vargas. Miguel Vargas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, Sampaio Correa AFC's João Vítor Leme got a free kick in the 93rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Orlando Negri managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itaquahy FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Orlando Negri was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tomás Marquez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Itaquahy FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
