To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adilson Severo in the 11th minute of play forced Ibitiuna's goalkeeper Benê Berger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bebeto Bueno recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Adilson Severo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benê Berger having to interfere. Gugu Cosme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Severino Porto, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Bebeto Bueno could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Benê Berger made a huge save. An unexpected shot in the 31st minute by Bebeto Bueno got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Adilson Severo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benê Berger having to interfere. Bebeto Bueno could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Benê Berger made a huge save. 36 minutes into the match, Ibitiuna's goal looked a bit too open when Adilson Severo came free, but Benê Berger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 43 played minutes ITAJAI SC got a freekick which was hit by Thomás de Lima. In the 46th match minute, ITAJAI SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Betão Cunha to maneuver through the defense. After 47 played minutes, Ibitiuna's José Augusto da Mata shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gugu Cosme came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ibitiuna reached it. The supporters of Ibitiuna booed when ITAJAI SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thomás de Lima didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Severino Porto made the kick off in the second half. ITAJAI SC's Gugu Cosme proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save ITAJAI SC from getting a goal against them. José Augusto da Mata charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Augusto da Mata the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 58th minute, José Augusto da Mata hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Ibitiuna's zone, Bebeto Bueno stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benê Berger came out of the goal and Bebeto Bueno tried to chip the ball over his head. ITAJAI SC's Gugu Cosme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Severino Porto in the 77th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Luís Fernando Tepedino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ibitiuna's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Fernando Tepedino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gugu Cosme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gugu Cosme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severino Porto in the 85th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Ibitiuna's José Augusto da Mata got a free kick in the 86th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bebeto Bueno in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benê Berger saved Ibitiuna from getting behind. Gugu Cosme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Severino Porto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of ITAJAI SC booed when Ibitiuna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adilson Branco didn't get a good kick on the ball. ITAJAI SC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
