An unexpectedly hard shot by Acácio França in the 16th minute of play forced ITAJAI SC's goalkeeper Gugu Cosme to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Claudinho Trigo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bebeto Bueno in the 23rd minute. Bebeto Bueno's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Claudinho Trigo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. If Acácio França had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The audience was convinced that Acácio França's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gugu Cosme was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. ITAJAI SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Raphael Baiano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Maktub had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
