Benjamin das Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Francisco Félix in the 10th minute of play. In the 12th minute, John Holm got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 14th minute Reynaldo de Senna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjamin das Neves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. John Holm who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 18thth minute tested the skills of Rodriguinho Pires when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ruy Ribeiro during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The wind increased when John Holm made the kick off in the second half. Rodriguinho Pires showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rômulo Viana in the 52nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in PLAYSON FC's zone, Betinho Bastos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rodriguinho Pires came out of the goal and Betinho Bastos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rodriguinho Pires showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John Holm, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. If Inácio Queiroz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62nd minute John Holm shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodriguinho Pires saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Imperial's supporters rose to their feet, but Betinho Bastos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rodriguinho Pires breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rômulo Viana blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rodriguinho Pires having to make a save. 97 minutes into the game, Jefferson Massa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. PLAYSON FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Imperial the free kick. Jefferson Massa hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match.
