Edgar de Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maicon Braga, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. A collision led to Balisa FC getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Valdir Arósio hit a great ball. In the 14thth minute of the game Caetano Paraibano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Luiz Bernardo F. C.'s Edgar de Mendonça was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Luiz Bernardo F. C.'s Edgar de Mendonça played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caetano Paraibano in the 18th minute of play. If Marcel Toscano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd minute, Valdir Arósio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 28th minute, Caetano Paraibano made a precise shot to the right of Edgar de Mendonça. Luiz Bernardo F. C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 31st minute, Olívio Vidal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 32 minutes into the game, Luiz Bernardo F. C.'s Marcel Toscano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Balisa FC's Yuri Furtado was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Edgar de Mendonça in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Maicon Braga was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 56 minutes, Valdir Arósio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Balisa FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valdir Arósio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Luiz Bernardo F. C.'s goalkeeper Edgar de Mendonça, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Cícero de Barros fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Balisa FC's protests and gave Cícero de Barros a yellow card for diving instead. In the 65th minute, Luiz Bernardo F. C.'s goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Maicon Braga fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Luiz Bernardo F. C.'s zone, Caetano Paraibano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edgar de Mendonça came out of the goal and Caetano Paraibano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 68th match minute, Luiz Bernardo F. C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcinho Pitta to maneuver through the defense. Luiz Bernardo F. C.'s Edgar de Mendonça proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Luiz Bernardo F. C. from getting a goal against them. Miguel Leite charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Miguel Leite the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Miguel Leite hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Luiz Bernardo F. C.'s Edgar de Mendonça got control of the ball when Caetano Paraibano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Caetano Paraibano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Edgar de Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Maicon Braga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 86 minutes of play Luiz Bernardo F. C.'s Miguel Leite was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Balisa FC booed when Luiz Bernardo F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel Leite didn't get a good kick on the ball. Caetano Paraibano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edgar de Mendonça read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. In the 90th minute, Balisa FC's Maicon Braga dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Maicon Braga struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Edgar de Mendonça didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Balisa FC. In the 97th minute, José Pedro Custódio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Maicon Braga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Balisa FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
