Sarzedo's Rogério Mesquita proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save Sarzedo from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celsinho Paraibano in the 8th minute of play forced C.A.Paulistano's goalkeeper Christiano Lara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Christiano Lara came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Sarzedo's Bruno Zanette. But to his dismay, Bruno Zanette quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Bruno Zanette recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Wágner Loyola came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the C.A.Paulistano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wágner Loyola couldn't finish the play. 29 minutes into the match, C.A.Paulistano's Luís Fabiano Cerezo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rogério Mesquita narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
