Zé Paulo Brasil's late challenge caught a Cianorte FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zé Paulo Brasil helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, The Gazette's Zé Paulo Brasil got a free kick in the 2nd minute. When Sandro Diniz came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Cianorte FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sandro Diniz couldn't finish the play. Luisão Mazza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aírton Custódio hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. In the 8th minute of the match Tales Ribeiro shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pedrinho Valadares showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Sandro Diniz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Cianorte FC booed when The Gazette was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benedito Lopez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Júlio Martins made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Luisão Mazza sent off a good shot on target. José Paulo Paiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedrinho Valadares having to interfere. José Paulo Paiva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pedrinho Valadares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benedito Arruda in the 27th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Sandro Diniz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Júlio Martins. That made the score 1-0 in the 29 minute of play. After 35 minutes of play, The Gazette's José Paulo Paiva made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pedrinho Valadares was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sandro Diniz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Júlio Martins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Sandro Diniz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Júlio Martins. That made the score 2-1 in the 42 minute of play. Sandro Diniz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Benedito Arruda took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pedrinho Valadares. Pedrinho Valadares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sandro Diniz was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Yan de Souza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 53 minutes, Sandro Diniz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cianorte FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sandro Diniz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in The Gazette's zone, Luisão Mazza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Júlio Martins came out of the goal and Luisão Mazza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match clock showed 64 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Luisão Mazza sped through The Gazette's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Júlio Martins. After having played for 67 minutes, José Paulo Paiva managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The Gazette's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Paulo Paiva was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 72 minutes of play, Cianorte FC's Luisão Mazza made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Júlio Martins was left in no man's land by his defense there! José Paulo Paiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedrinho Valadares having to interfere. Guto Marques kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Luisão Mazza scored 5-2 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Júlio Martins, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Júlio Martins stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sandro Diniz's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. Luisão Mazza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Júlio Martins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, The Gazette's João Augusto Meirelles got a free kick in the 92nd minute. In the 93rd minute, Luisão Mazza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
