In the 19th minute, Benedito Arruda left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The The Gazette fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. An unexpected shot in the 24th minute by Victor Silva got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 27th minute of the game. One of C.A.Paulistano:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of The Gazette:s goal. The Gazette's Benedito Lopez got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. José Paulo Paiva struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Christiano Lara didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Gazette. The The Gazette fans' excitement grew in the 40th match minute when The Gazette's Benedito Arruda looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After the first half The Gazette were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Christiano Lara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benedito Arruda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Benedito Arruda in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Christiano Lara saved C.A.Paulistano from getting behind. After a rather tough play, C.A.Paulistano's Wágner Loyola got a free kick in the 58th minute. Benedito Arruda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christiano Lara having to interfere. Wágner Loyola got his second yellow card in the match during the 61st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Wágner Loyola kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. José Paulo Paiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Christiano Lara managed to avoid a goal in the 78thth minute, when The Gazette's José Paulo Paiva fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Benedito Arruda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christiano Lara having to interfere. When Luís Fabiano Cerezo fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.A.Paulistano's protests and gave Luís Fabiano Cerezo a yellow card for diving instead. Christiano Lara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Gazette's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
