The audience was convinced that Sebastião Salles's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jacinto Peixoto was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. Porto Alegre FC's Allan Fernandes got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sebastião Salles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Jacinto Peixoto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 20th minute, Sagrado's Valdemar Toscano dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. After 24 minutes, Paulinho Veloso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sagrado and the Porto Alegre FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Paulinho Veloso kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. In the 28th minute, Allan Fernandes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 29th minute, Mané Saldanha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Allan Fernandes took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jacinto Peixoto. Jacinto Peixoto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in Sagrado's zone, Sebastião Salles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacinto Peixoto came out of the goal and Sebastião Salles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 37 minutes into the match, Romeu Fernandes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacinto Peixoto. Sagrado's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Romeu Fernandes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Romeu Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 45th minute of the match Agnaldo Vieira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jacinto Peixoto showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Allan Fernandes in the 47th minute of play forced Sagrado's goalkeeper Jacinto Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Allan Fernandes was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Allan Fernandes in the 51st minute of play forced Sagrado's goalkeeper Jacinto Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cesinha Cordeiro came free with the goalkeeper in the 58th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jacinto Peixoto could save by the left post. 60 minutes into the match, Porto Alegre FC's goal looked a bit too open when José Pedro Mangueira came free, but Duda Baptista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sebastião Salles in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jacinto Peixoto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Allan Fernandes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Jacinto Peixoto made a huge save. Allan Fernandes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacinto Peixoto having to interfere. In the 80th minute of the match, Romeu Fernandes got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jacinto Peixoto was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The supporters of Sagrado booed when Porto Alegre FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Natã Bertassi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sebastião Salles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jacinto Peixoto made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Allan Fernandes sent off a good shot on target. In the 90th minute of the match Porto Alegre FC got a corner. Sagrado's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Leonel da Rocha ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Leonel da Rocha got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jacinto Peixoto quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Paulinho Veloso took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 96th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Duda Baptista. Porto Alegre FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Porto Alegre FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
