Délio Pombal came out of the goal and José Pedro Mangueira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tião de Medeiros got free with Jacinto Peixoto in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 15 minutes, Alfredão Gonçalves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wiig and the Sagrado players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 16th minute of the match Luís Fábio Meira sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Délio Pombal skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Sagrado booed when Wiig was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Gustavo Brito didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tião de Medeiros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Jacinto Peixoto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jacinto Peixoto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Gustavo Brito, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luís Gustavo Brito made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tião de Medeiros in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jacinto Peixoto saved Sagrado from getting behind. Magno Pereira hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Luís Gustavo Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Wiig's Alfredão Gonçalves suffered a concussion in the 65th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. 65 minutes into the game, Raimundo Borges was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sagrado's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wiig the free kick. After a rather tough play, Sagrado's Raimundo Borges got a free kick in the 66th minute. Tião de Medeiros's late challenge caught a Sagrado's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tião de Medeiros helped the player get up and apologised. In the 67th match minute, Wiig was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tião de Medeiros to maneuver through the defense. In the 71st minute, Luís Gustavo Brito made a precise shot to the right of Jacinto Peixoto. Sagrado's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. When Tião de Medeiros came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Wiig fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tião de Medeiros couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Guga Donatello managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wiig's supporters rose to their feet, but Guga Donatello was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jacinto Peixoto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Wiig getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Afonsinho Veiga hit a great ball. Valdemar Toscano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Délio Pombal having to interfere. In the 84th minute, Tião de Medeiros made a precise shot to the right of Jacinto Peixoto. Sagrado's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tião de Medeiros in the 88th minute of play forced Sagrado's goalkeeper Jacinto Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Afonsinho Veiga struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Jacinto Peixoto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wiig. In the 92nd minute, Luís Fábio Meira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sagrado's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
