Luís Fernando Macedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Flamengo de Caxias F. C.'s zone, Róbson Senna stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Fernando Macedo came out of the goal and Róbson Senna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, João Francisco Paraíba managed to get in a good position for a shot. Luís Fernando Macedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gláuber Coutinho charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gláuber Coutinho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 34 played minutes Flamengo de Caxias F. C. got a freekick which was hit by Humberto Sabóia. Róbson Senna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Fernando Macedo having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Pula Pirata FC's Tostão Pombal got a free kick in the 41st minute. Edison Jorrin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gláuber Coutinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
