Spectators: 6759 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1659, VIP seats: 100) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Abelardo Cordeiro started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rui Cearense in the 8th minute of play forced Gaviões da Vila Alpina's goalkeeper Tomás Garcia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rui Cearense took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tomás Garcia. Tomás Garcia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After 13 played minutes Abelardo Cordeiro rounded Taubaté E.C's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Abelardo Cordeiro in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eurico Carvalho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Taubaté E.C's Geovanni Félix got a free kick in the 19th minute. Abelardo Cordeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Eurico Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Abelardo Cordeiro was extremely unlucky when he, in the 24th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The audience was convinced that Abelardo Cordeiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eurico Carvalho was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Anísio de Toledo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Anísio de Toledo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Eurico Carvalho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 47 played minutes Taubaté E.C got a freekick which was hit by Ulysses Arruda. 50 minutes had been played when some careless play by Taubaté E.C's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Evandro Ferraz was slow to take the kick. During this time Gaviões da Vila Alpina's players had a chance to rest.

Zeca Velasco's late challenge caught a Taubaté E.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zeca Velasco helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Gaviões da Vila Alpina's Zeca Velasco got a free kick in the 54th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Gaviões da Vila Alpina's zone, Rui Cearense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tomás Garcia came out of the goal and Rui Cearense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Abelardo Cordeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tomás Garcia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rui Cearense in the 72nd minute of play. Eurico Carvalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abelardo Cordeiro in the 75th minute of the match. In the 83rd minute Abelardo Cordeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eurico Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zeca Velasco was shown his second yellow card after 86 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. When Anísio de Toledo came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Gaviões da Vila Alpina fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anísio de Toledo couldn't finish the play. Geovanni Félix got his second yellow card in the match during the 94th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The Gaviões da Vila Alpina manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Taubaté E.C to win.
