But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gualter Mazza couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Macazeira's Gilmar Teixeira got a free kick in the 19th minute. 20 minutes into the game, Luiz Eduardo de Lara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Macazeira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dragões de Santiago FC the free kick. The supporters of Dragões de Santiago FC booed when Macazeira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Eduardo de Lara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Délio Fantini was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Benjamim Furtado. If Gino Pena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Macazeira's Gino Pena got a free kick in the 25th minute. Dragões de Santiago FC's Gilberto Gaúcho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gualter Mazza in the 30th minute of play. In the 31st minute Gino Pena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilberto Gaúcho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dragões de Santiago FC's Gilberto Gaúcho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gualter Mazza in the 33rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Dragões de Santiago FC's Walmir Custódio got a free kick in the 34th minute. Gualter Mazza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Gilberto Gaúcho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Gino Pena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 44 minutes, Gino Pena managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Macazeira's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gino Pena was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Macazeira getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Benê Cardozo hit a great ball. After having played for 48 minutes, Henrique Vidal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dragões de Santiago FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Henrique Vidal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Dragões de Santiago FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Macazeira were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Henrique Vidal made a kick off. Henrique Vidal might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Délio Fantini. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Henrique Vidal ran back to his position shaking his head. Walmir Custódio hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Gino Pena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilberto Gaúcho having to interfere. Gilberto Gaúcho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gino Pena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gualter Mazza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Macazeira's Délio Fantini played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Serginho Diniz in the 65th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gino Pena in the 69th minute of play forced Dragões de Santiago FC's goalkeeper Gilberto Gaúcho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gualter Mazza could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Gilberto Gaúcho made a huge save. The Macazeira fans' excitement grew in the 76th match minute when Macazeira's Gualter Mazza looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a defensive mix-up in Dragões de Santiago FC's zone, Gualter Mazza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilberto Gaúcho came out of the goal and Gualter Mazza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Macazeira booed when Dragões de Santiago FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raúl Gaúcho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gino Pena in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gilberto Gaúcho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gualter Mazza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilberto Gaúcho having to interfere. Macazeira's Gino Pena got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
