After 12 minutes, Claudinho da Silveira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pulse F.C. and the Sericita FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Horácio Novaes was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 13th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Cacá Mineiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcel Coelho having to interfere. After 18 minutes, Claudinei Lara mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pulse F.C. and the Sericita FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Aílton Sampaio came out of the goal and Samuel Rodrigues tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Amílton Rossi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marcel Coelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amílton Rossi in the 32nd minute of play. Cacá Mineiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Amílton Rossi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sericita FC's Cacá Mineiro got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Amílton Rossi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcel Coelho was relentless in the 45th minute of the game.
