The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Robinho Simão took the ball and in the 6 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Oséias Barbosa. Da Matta E.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Afonsinho Quadros was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Afonsinho Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jânio Dias having to interfere. In the 14th match minute, Da Matta E.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Duda Prado to maneuver through the defense. Afonsinho Quadros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Jânio Dias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Hellcife FC booed when Da Matta E.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Dante didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hellcife FC's Roger Gonçalves couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 20th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Da Matta E.C.. Rogério Dantass short, quick shot in the 34thth minute got Jânio Dias to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Jânio Dias made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Rogério Dantas sent off a good shot on target. Jânio Dias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rogério Dantas, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After 63 played minutes Da Matta E.C. got a freekick which was hit by Duda Prado. Jânio Dias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rogério Dantas in the 68th minute of the match. After 69 played minutes Hellcife FC got a freekick which was hit by Afonsinho Quadros. In the 71st match minute, Hellcife FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Betinho Cardoso to maneuver through the defense. Emerson Fontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Oséias Barbosa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Da Matta E.C.. After a defensive mix-up in Hellcife FC's zone, Emerson Fontes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oséias Barbosa came out of the goal and Emerson Fontes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Da Matta E.C. booed when Hellcife FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ezequiel Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Emerson Fontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 95 minutes into the match, Hellcife FC's goalkeeper Oséias Barbosa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eusébio Machado. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rogério Dantas in the 97th minute of play forced Da Matta E.C.'s goalkeeper Jânio Dias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
