Da Matta E.C.'s Jânio Dias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amílton Rossi in the 34th minute of play. If Cacá Mineiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jânio Dias took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amílton Rossi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 40thth minute of the game Amílton Rossi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Da Matta E.C.'s Jânio Dias was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Sericita FC booed when Da Matta E.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eusébio Machado didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Horácio Novaes in the 79th minute really tested Jânio Dias's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal.
