After 6 played minutes, Popular FC's Olavo Lira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Edmílson Loyola came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Popular FC reached it. Marcel Neiva blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edmílson Loyola having to make a save. When the match clock showed 9 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Vladimir de Lara sped through VIDAL FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Edmílson Loyola. Edmílson Loyola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladimir de Lara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Marcel Neiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Fernando de Queirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erivaldo Bertassi having to interfere. VIDAL FC's Edmílson Loyola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladimir de Lara in the 18th minute of play. A collision led to Popular FC getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Natã Urbano hit a great ball. VIDAL FC's Amadeu Prata couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 26th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Popular FC. Vladimir de Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmílson Loyola having to interfere. If Marcel Neiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Walmyr Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Walmyr Penha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 39 minutes, Luís Fernando de Queirós mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the VIDAL FC and the Popular FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Walmyr Penhas short, quick shot in the 46thth minute got Erivaldo Bertassi to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vladimir de Lara made a kick off. Marcel Neiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmílson Loyola having to interfere. 60 minutes into the game, Cipriano Xavier was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Popular FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave VIDAL FC the free kick. A hard and well directed shot from Amadeu Prata led 60 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. Popular FC's Erivaldo Bertassi became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 1-1. Laerte de Moraes charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Laerte de Moraes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Olavo Lira, 66 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Olavo Lira kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. After having played for 73 minutes, Luís Fernando de Queirós managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. VIDAL FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Fernando de Queirós was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 76 minutes into the match, VIDAL FC's Amadeu Prata broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Fernando de Queirós in the 78th minute of play forced Popular FC's goalkeeper Erivaldo Bertassi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Walmyr Penha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luís Fernando de Queirós kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. When Natã Urbano fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Popular FC's protests and gave Natã Urbano a yellow card for diving instead. Erivaldo Bertassi came out of the goal in the 90th minute to try and stop a shot by VIDAL FC's Luís Fernando de Queirós. But to his dismay, Luís Fernando de Queirós quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. After some careless play in the Popular FC defense, Walmyr Penha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Erivaldo Bertassi. The Popular FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Erivaldo Bertassi should have stopped the shot.
