An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Fernando Baptista in the 21st minute of play forced joguers's goalkeeper Váldson Valadares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Botafogo Devil booed when joguers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horácio Linhares didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience held their breath when Edson Recife in the 25th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Váldson Valadares's left hand side. 27 minutes into the match, joguers's goal looked a bit too open when Donato Mello came free, but Váldson Valadares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Frederico Sousa's late challenge caught a joguers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frederico Sousa helped the player get up and apologised. After 28 played minutes Botafogo Devil got a freekick which was hit by Frederico Sousa. With his leg Tarcisio do Nascimento managed to avoid a goal in the 31stth minute, when joguers's Franklin Marinho fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Donato Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 34th match minute, joguers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tarcisio Teles to maneuver through the defense. 35 minutes in the game, Donato Mello dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Arí Pitta was extremely unlucky when he, in the 41st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 47 minutes into the match, joguers's Arí Pitta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tarcisio do Nascimento narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arí Pitta to make the kick off. Franklin Marinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tarcisio do Nascimento having to interfere. Arí Pitta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Botafogo Devil's Frederico Sousa suffered a sore thigh after 61 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 61 minutes, Tarcisio Teles mouthed his way into the referee's book. If Arí Pitta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Botafogo Devil fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 79th minute. Penalty! Botafogo Devil's Tarcisio do Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arí Pitta in the 89th minute of play. If Arí Pitta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 95 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Arí Pitta sped through Botafogo Devil's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Tarcisio do Nascimento.
